A little bit of cumin adds such a wonderful aroma to my rice, it always makes my meal extra special.

Method:

  1. To make 2 cups of rice, bring 4 cups of water to boil in a saucepan and add 2 cups of rice, 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp oil.
  2. Cover the lid and reduce heat and let it cook for 20 minutes….no peeking
  3. After 15 minutes just give it a stir.
  4. After 20 minutes if you still feel the rice is not cooked enough add little more water about 1/2 cup and cook for 5 more minutes. Different rice take different amount of water and cooking times.
  5. To season take a small saucepan add 2 tsp of oil or ghee ( ghee gives it an amazing flavor) and let it heat up, add 2 tsp of jeera( cumin) sprinkle a pinch of asafetida and turn the gas off.
  6. Mix the seasoning with the rice and sprinkle some cilantro. Flavored rice is ready to go with any kind of curry !!!!!
