Chole (Chickpeas)2 cans (15.5 oz each)
Oil2 tbsp
Ginger1 small piece
Garlic2 cloves
Onions2 medium size
Tomatoes3 medium size
Turmeric powder1/2 tsp
Garam Masala1/2 tbsp
Salt1 tsp or to taste

Chole is my family’s favourite comfort food. My kids love it too. It is simple and quick to make. Chole is also called garbanzo beans or chickpeas. Gravy is onion & tomatoes with spices.

Method:

  1. Drain the water and rinse the chickpeas nicely in cold water.
  2. Heat some oil and saute garlic, ginger, onions add some salt & asafetida , after the onion is cooked add the tomatoes, turmeric powder & garam masala and cook until tomatoes get soft.
  3. Let the gravy cool down and put it in a blender and make a puree.
  4. Cook the gravy for a 5 minutes and then add the chickpeas and bring it to a boil
  5. Garnish with cilantro.
